Air Astana has extended its suspension of flights between Almaty, Astana and Dubai until September 30, the Kazakhstan flag carrier said, citing continuing instability in the Gulf region.

The extension pushes back a route resumption that had previously been expected sooner, with the carrier’s October schedule for the two routes now adjusted to a reduced frequency once flights do return.

The move adds Air Astana to a growing list of carriers curtailing Gulf capacity as regional airspace risk persists, a pattern that has repeatedly forced schedule revisions and cost exposure across the sector this year.

For passengers already booked on the affected Almaty-Dubai and Astana-Dubai services, Air Astana is offering free rebooking within the same booking class for travel up to November 20.

Customers may also request a full refund at their original point of purchase, or reroute to another Air Astana international destination without penalty, though any fare difference will still apply.

The carrier gave no indication of the specific triggers behind the extended suspension beyond referencing regional instability, and did not disclose the number of weekly frequencies affected or the expected revenue impact of the reduced schedule.
